On Wednesday 25th September representatives from Mitchell and Urwin were proud to attend the Leeds College of Building Awards. The college’s annual award ceremony, the focus of the evening was the BIG (Building Industry Greats) Awards which celebrates work and achievements outstanding students.

The event is a great opportunity to showcase the industry’s rising stars, and there have certainly been plenty of talented young builders in the 2018/19 academic year.

The evening, during which attendees were seated alongside award winners and their proud families, included a welcome drinks and canapé reception followed by a formal awards presentation. Mitchell and Urwin sponsored the Brickwork Student of the Year award, which was won by one of our own apprentices Jason Charlesworth.

Jason has just completed his Level 3 NVQ and has now graduated the M&U Academy, showing great promise for a long and successful career. He is now working as a subcontract bricklayer for us on the Redrow Homes, Churchfields development in Green Hammerton, just outside York. Churchfields is a new development offering a range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes in a village location within easy access to the city. I
