Raising Mountains of Money for a Charity Close to Our Heart

Gemma Urwin our colleague and the daughter of our Directors Richard and Susan, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2017. The Teenage Cancer Trust supported Gemma during her treatment over the last eighteen months, so we could think of no better way to say thank you than by raising a mountain of money in their name by climbing Ben Nevis.

Standing at 1.345 above sea level, Ben Nevis the highest peak in Britain, is located in the Scottish highlands. The summit is the collapsed dome of a volcano and is known for its breathtaking views and fresh air.

Following months of training with gruelling walks along local reservoirs and the Yorkshire Three Peaks, our team of intrepid adventurers climbed Ben Nevis on 15th June 2019.

The group included experienced hikers and novices, with everyone working together and supporting each other to achieve their goals. There was a great sense of camaraderie on the day, and we’re delighted to have raised over £20,000 for the charity. We were proud to be featured in the York Press:
