M&U supports Brickwork Student of the Year at Leeds College of Building Awards
On 11 October, a team from Mitchell & Urwin were delighted to attend the Leeds College of Building Awards Ceremony at the Leeds Town Hall. The awards celebrate the achievements of students over the 2017/2018 year.
The evening included a drinks and canapé reception, followed by the awards ceremony. A total of 52 awards were given out, with winners announced by Capital FM DJ Joe Cooper. The focus on this year’s awards was not simply for academic achievements, but for going the extra mile, overcoming adversity or excelling at national competitions.
As Leeds College of Building is one of the many educational institutions across Yorkshire that Mitchell & Urwin works with to encourage the next generation of bricklayers, we showed our support by sponsoring the Brickwork Student of the Year Award. The worthy winner was Tim Smith. M&U Contract Managers Paul Pierrepont and Mark Sylvester were on hand to congratulate Tim.
Ian Billyard, Principal gave the closing speech on the night and said, “I’d like to congratulate all of our students for their hard work and dedication at College and in the workplace. They are ambassadors for our institution and for their chosen profession. The award ceremony would not be possible without the continued support of our fantastic sponsors too.”
Congrats to all the winners. If you are a brickwork student interested in taking up an apprenticeship with Yorkshire’s leading brick building company, find out how to apply here.
