Mitchell & Urwin team building on the Real Ale trail
Team work is one of Mitchell & Urwin’s core values. It makes a massive difference to the success of any build. As a company, we organise many team-related events and activities so that our staff can connect off site as well as on it. But we were thrilled by the initiative shown by two of our Contract Managers who took it upon themselves to organise a team building event.
Jason Matthews and Paul Pierrepont invited anyone in the company – employees and sub-contractors – to join them on 4 August on the Transpennine Real Ale Trail. The trail was made famous by BBC’s Oz and James Drink to Britain. It invites ale lovers to hop on board a train, stopping at a number of stations with nearby pubs, to sample the local brew.
About twenty Mitchell & Urwin workers decided to join in the fun. They went from Staley Bridge to Batley calling at Greenfield, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, Mirfield and Dewsbury. They had a brilliant day out, with glorious weather and a fantastic selection of ales to try en route.
Most importantly, they got to hang out as a team together away from building sites. The camaraderie that develops when tools are downed, means stronger relationships back on site. A fantastic idea that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Well done to Jason and Paul for organising it. The question is: When’s the next one?
